To Feel Alive

Today my heart sank to my stomach,

and so, I knew I was alive.

Today anxiety collided with clarity,

and so, I knew I was alive.

Today I feared the judgment of public opinion,

and so, I knew I was alive.

Today I dreamt of one day learning the meaning of love,

and so, I knew I was alive.

Today I said a prayer for tomorrow,

and so, not only did I know I was alive today,

but know in my palms that I will also see tomorrow.
