Deliberate Reason

I awoke this morning and debated:

Has the world gone mad,

Or have I?

And if I have gone mad,

How am I to know

Seeing as I have gone mad

And consequently,

Would no longer be able to discern,

And know?

I decided to call a friend

Who was once a foe

But had helped me clear my vision

To see how she is truly so.

She proclaimed:

“The world has sold its soul”

Indeed, so I’m told.

I was committed to look some more

Albeit a dangerous game

For a maddening mind

To try to problem solve

A maddening world.

But I’ve already played sane

In the illusion of a civilized world

And I’d much rather

No longer play that role.

So what then, is our role?

And how are we to regain control?

Privileged architects have built deceptive roads

That take us down the path they want us to go

What is right then, becomes truly unknown

And so I worry often

How can we know,

What we don’t know?

Submerged in a string of sleepless nights,

What I concluded one dreary evening, is two-fold:

Firstly, these are not symptoms of a lost mind,

But rather a lost soul

And with deliberate reason

We can still bring her home.

The other, is too, within our control-

Let us be bold,

And push through the status quo.

Our hero’s journey begins today

So let the story unfold

Of how the world was shown a mirror

And came to know

What is really so.
