Illusions

What is the reality of this world?

Is there any universal beauty?

Any undeniable truths?

You have your prejudices

And me, my illusions

How can we reconcile

Looking at the same sky

At the same day and time

Yet you feel blue

And I’m blinded by Sunshine

Today we took arms against desires

I fell to mine

You won your battle;

And together we rest,

To fight again tomorrow

No two perceptions are alike

And no external vice will suffice

The sole universal truth then is this-

Our illusions are our greatest enemy;

And we must each wage war on them internally

To one day see a common light
