Unapologetically Me

Why should I apologize

For who I am,

Or who I’ve become,

Or what I’m becoming?

What is the harm in being who I am?

Or you to be who you are

For if I were to try to be anything but me,

For worry of what you think I should be,

Then the harm would only be to me,

From me.

So please accept me for me

Because I shall put forth no more apologies,

For being me.

I know I have done no harm to you

And in that,

Lays my confidence to be unapologetically me.

In fact, please disregard my request;

As I need not your acceptance of me.

Your thoughts no longer have power over me

Because I am, unapologetically me.
